We need:Teachers who are fun to be with and are willing to help students learn English and the English for their specialist subject base. Salary packages are linked to qualifications and are some of the highest for this area of China. As some areas in China are very expensive to live in like Beijing, salaries there are linked to living costs in those cities and, though appearing higher, they do not reflect the ability to have disposable income for your travel. We can Guarantee a teaching placement with Ameson and linked schools if you fit all of the following criteria.Ø From Australia, Canada, New Zealand, UK or USA with a neutral accent Ø Possess a degree or diploma in any discipline, or equivalent oral and written communication, especially TESOL, ESL or training skills received from above mentioned countries Ø Are aged between 21 and 65 (or young 65+) in good physical and mental health; andØ Are of good character with great interpersonal skills, good intercultural skills; and Ø Are able to commit to at least 6 to 12 months work at Ameson in China; and Ø Are able and willing to accept and adapt to the working and living conditions while in China; Note: this is the most important quality all applicants must have. If you are a native speaker but without TEFL qualifications and are willing to be trained then we welcome your application as well.Couples (married or de facto) and retired people are particularly welcome; only a qualified person will be regarded as an English teacher and the spouse, if not qualified, is welcome as family member to stay in China.Benefits Ameson Offers:If you come from Overseas we Reimburse your return airfare (economy class) by the most direct route: generally for teachers going for a 10 working month to one year contract; for a 6 month placement only one way airfare will be provided, for the most direct route; airfare is not provided to family members who are not qualified as a teacher and accepted for employment at AMESON. Note: The amount reimbursed is capped to $US 800 return and $US 400 one-way.If you are coming from within China we reimburse the cost of a carriage/sleeper from your point of origin to Ameson.Complimentary accommodation: with facilities such as bedding, kitchen, air-conditioning, hot and cold water supplied bathroom, fridge, TV, phone and use of a computer and Internet access at work (fees for the use of internet and phone calls is payable by teachers if using the home phone). Accommodation is generally NOT shared with people except family members or partner.Monthly pay: is significantly higher than a local senior Chinese public servant, in the range between RMB 5000 to RMB 5,500 for TEFL (for a maximum of 220 hours per three months, it is usually 180 a month ) and after the probationary period of 2 months RMB 8000 upwards for Subject teachers and Teacher trainers for Full time work, every month. Exchange rate is 1 USD to 8.23 Yuan. Payment is made only for working months and not holiday month. End of Contract Bonus earned from a monthly credit system: up to one months salary for people with 1-year contract;The Students and Your TeachingAMESON offers classes to all age groups. English is part of the national curriculum in Chinese schools and has been for a number of years. You will find that most have a passive knowledge of English. It is practice in speaking and listening that they value most from AMESON English classes.AMESON also holds classes in teacher training and a foundation course in Physics, Business, Mathematics, Economics, Accounting, French, Film and English language as preparation for entrance to overseas Universities or study abroad. About the School:
What does Ameson do?
The Ameson Foundation for Educational and Cultural Exchange coordinates and sponsors various educational, professional and cultural exchange opportunities for young scholars throughout the Asian, North American and European regions. Graduate student or professional academic exchange placements are generally long-medium term arrangements while short-term language camps or academic research placements are organized during summer/winter breaks. We teach students from the age of 4 to the early 20s, from beginners to advanced. We also train Chinese English Language teachers in a refresher course.For this we need teachers who speak good English (we also teach French) and can help our Chinese students achieve their dream of either improving their English for school study or at a later stage, being placed at an education establishment abroad. This will guarantee them better jobs in China and help China become truly international. We are in the second year of a pilot program with Cambridge that is proving a great success. We offer a high standard bridging course here in China to enable these students to have the English language skills to qualify for University study abroad.Along these lines, also, The Ameson Foundation has actively promoted the development of educational planning and equipment acquisition within Chinese secondary and tertiary institutions.At Ameson, there is regular communication between management, teaching staff and a team of experienced support staff. The Center Manager works with a Chinese Project Manager and a European Project Manger who co-ordinate to manage the academic areas. Ameson Education and Cultural Exchange Foundation is a registered foreign employer.The following is a guide of how much is expected to spend while living in Jiangsu Province, China, as an ordinary person:Accommodation: no cost except for electricity, phone and water.Meals: about 15 Yuan per meal (one ordinary dish with meat and rice or noodle in a restaurant, without wine)Clothing: jeans about 80 Yuan, T-shirt about 20 Yuan, shorts about 4 Yuan, pair of shoes about 80 Yuan. But don't expect to buy any clothing or shoes if your size is much larger than Chinese;Transport: Bikes are cheap to buy and easy to ride on the flat roads. A good way to keep fit. A Taxi is about 8 Yuan per 10 km, bus or railway transport is cheaper. Phone calls: IP cards available for international calls, about 3 Yuan/min for call to Australia and 2 Yuan/min to the US; it's cheaper to call China from overseas with IP cards.Internet: is provided within the school;Electricity: about 50 Yuan a month; higher when using air conditioning; Airfare: about 1000 Yuan between Nanjing and Beijing, Shanghai or Guangzhou;Hotel: standard twin bed room about 200 Yuan per night, equivalent to Australian 3 star hotels; Skills of shopping in China: You can bargain! You'll not be surprised that you could cut the price by 50%.
